Stories of the Stars: Dusk Lillies I

The four fillies stumbled along the hallway, giggling as they struggled to run as fast as possible.

‘Stop right there!’ Shouted Frozen Mountain mad coming out right in front of them, blocking their path. The girls screamed surprised, stumbling each in other side and parting ways, each running on a different corridor. Dusk Lillies stumbled sideways and fell down on a stairway, rolling down until she bumped into a door that was blocking the way. The impact opened the time worn door with a creak from the rusty hinges. Dusk rolled a few feet further, but she soon stopped. Finding herself on the floor, she raised her eyes to look around. Her head hurt pretty bad from the fall, but the moment she saw what lied in front of her she totally forgot about the pain.

The place was huge. A circular room that seemed to go on forever. The walls were all covered with shelves filled with books. It all looked dusty and ancient, like nobody’s been there for a really long time. She stood on a platform, and all around her there were fallen books, dumped there like they just fell from the shelves. Chaotically laying on the ground, some were opened and on their pages she could see unknown writings. Just with a look over those books she could see that there were different types of writings, every book being written in a different one. The platform she was staying on didn’t cover the whole room, on the sides the room was going deeper. Looking down, she couldn’t see the end. But what was the most interesting of all, was that it was the same when she was looking up. The room was going on forever, but it didn’t make any sense. She couldn’t have gotten that deep under the castle. The room must have been enchanted.

‘Dusk!’ She heard a voice calling her. Soon, Frozen Mountain walked in through the door, followed by the three younger fillies. ‘Are you ok? You fell pretty bad, are you hurt?’

‘N-no...’ she mumbled.

Frozen Mountain looked around, but he didn’t seem surprised. He must’ve been there many times before.

‘Sigh... I never get to clean this place...’ he mumbled.

‘What is this place?!’ Asked Dusk Lillies. She wanted to know everything about that place. It seemed to make absolutely no sense, such a big place under the castle. And all those books... what were they? What was written in them? She wanted to learn it all, understand all the writings and find all the mysteries. If someone couldn’t answer all that... she was going to spend all of her life seeking and finding those answers herself.
