Legends Of The Sky - Luminary: Story 2
Luminary often watched mothers purred a song to their children or how a brother and sister play together - two beings who have the same blood. He never felt a mother's love and did not know what it was, he imagined what it was like when you were born from a living being who loves you gratuitously and whom you call a parent.
Can he call Starla his mother? She loved them all, but who were the Griffixes, Dragonclaw, and Luminary for her? Creatures of flesh and blood who appeared in this world so that the deity would not be lonely, or children to whom she sings her lullaby of life?
Who is Dragonclaw? She was always there, if not her, Luminary would never have been able to learn to taste and smell, hear the wind and speak. He couldn't even imitate others' emotions, because it was Dragonclaw who taught him. But can Luminary call her his sister?
They are completely different. Starla and Dragonclaw have more in common with each other than with him. It seems to luminary that he has no right to call them family. Family...
Would Starla be happier if Dragonclaw called her mother?
After several generations passed, everyone stopped paying attention to Luminary. He was like the Sun and the Moon to them - he just existed, distant, silent.. but they were grateful to him for what he did for them.
Dragonclaw and Starla knew that Luminary did not feel anything, but they accepted him as such, and he could afford not to feign emotions and be himself. To be nothing. But soon, Dragonclaw stopped spending time with him and Luminary for her also became like the Sun and the Moon. Only Starla, who wanted to give her love to every griffix, animal and plant, took care of the Luminary as a living being to the last, but even she began to move away.
He did not feel resentment or bitterness, but even if he could, he would not blame them, in the end, without receiving a real emotional response, even an immortal deity would get bored.
Therefore, Luminary is simply destined to be alone among the griffixes who love each other. He is not sad at all, as long as he has a promise made to Starla, he will protect the Griffix people until the very end.
