[LETTR] Wendigo of the Caves

Long ago lived a divided grifix that was believed to be the strongest of them all. His coat was glossy and he had big beautiful horns. He was a good preychaser and he took great pride in his work. He would always seek out enough materials for the divided and made sure they always had enough food.

On one fateful day while searching for materials in a cave with two fellow preychasers, one who was his best friend, an unfortunate accident occured. The cave above them shuddered and small bits of rock fell from the ceiling, the cave was collapsing! To not be crushed the trio ran as fast as they could deeper into the cave, unfortunately in the process the cave in blocked their only exit. 

They were trapped.

Even though the trio felt panicked, they made up a plan. They would spend hours carefully moving rocks, each would take turns. When one was too tired another would take their place. Eventually a thin sliver of light emerged when they moved a rock, giving them some hope. They were going to make it!....

Excitedly, they pulled out rocks faster, too fast. The cave shook again, and dust and rocks began falling from the roof again. The group had to run in even further as more chunks fell down, more than before. Their hopes were crushed under a literal pile of rubble. They were exhausted, hungry, and their paws were bleeding. The stress of the situation was too much for one of the grifix and caused a seizure, the strong grifix and their friend couldn't react in time as they lurched back and smashed their head into the rock wall, killing them instantly. 

The two remaining grifix were watching in horror as blood pooled onto the floor, and had no idea what to do. It was just so sudden. The friend shifted forwards and began collecting small rocks, surrounded the fallen divided with them, then stepped back and bowed their head out of respect. The strong grifix just stared, atrocious thoughts whispering in their mind that they brushed away with a head shake.

Time passed, the two grifix waited in vein that the camp might notice them missing and try to rescue them, all the while a corpse rotted beside them. They became more exhausted, hungrier..until one day, the friend woke up to the sound of..flesh tearing and bones cracking. They woke up with a start, though their mind was groggy, they could still make out a hunched figure standing over the corpse..eating it. 

"What are you doing?!". they shouted, they knew who it was, there was only one other grifix here with them that was alive. The strong grifix's head twisted around to stare at them, his eyes glinting in the darkness. 

"I...I was so...hungry..I..couldn't contain myself anymore..", he wheezes as blood drips from his snout, even in darkness the sight was horrifying. The friend shot up to their feet and shot further into the cave system, new energy pumping through their veins from the adrenaline. They could not stay there anymore, not with that..thing..he..he ate one of his own! The grifix ran and ran, until- light! They found light! Miraciously, they had found another exit, and found their way home. 

They told of their experience, told of what happened. A story brewed over time, where grifix are warned to wander too deep into the caves, in fear of finding a flesh eating grifix. The story became more twisted with each retelling. They said the grifix that ate one of their own was cursed by the stars because of its disgraceful action tp forever starve until the end of time, or that it's sphirix transformed from a beautiful deer to a corrupted wendigo and that it would whisper sick thoughts in its mind, and fused with the divided grifix to become a monster.

No one knows of his fate.
