Stories of the Stars: Silver Wing I
Yet another day had arrived, and the sun shone bright through the window. Silver Wing covered her eyes annoyed with her paws.
“Too bright!! Ugh… My eyes hurt… Why must it shine right on my face…”
“Cause otherwise you’d never wake up!” Creaked Carlos, her sphirix, taking the shape of a parrot, perhaps to show that he was impersonating her father, and not actually meaning it. She knew that all too well, he loved sleeping as much as she did, after all they were one and the same grifix.
“Ugh… better get up then, look, the warriors are already training.” She looked out the window. Her father liked to keep his eyes on her, so she lived with him in the warriors camp. She was the only child in there, warriors that had a family usually moved to their own houses, in the camp huts lived only young warriors that had just left their parental home or single warriors that enjoyed living there to be close to training.
She didn’t want to talk to her father, she knew that he’d ask her what she planned to do that day, and whatever she had in mind, he’d consider it to be far too dangerous for her. So she just crawled out the back window and left to see what was up around the village.
It wasn’t long before she found her friend, Zephyr, trying to wrestle a dust devil that was blowing through the Village.
“Pfft, what’s taking you so long to break up that dust devil, if it were me it would’ve been long gone!” She provoked him. Of course, he was just playing, and as soon as he realized she was watching him, he blew right through the dust devil, which exploded in small swirls of dust and leaves that dissolved in the air.
“Morning, Silver Wing! What’s on your mind for today?” He said, landing in front of her.
“Remember yesterday that we overheard those warriors speak of that manticore they found in the woods? They’re gonna go fight it today!!”
“Oh, golly, would love to see that! Did your dad give us permission to join them?”
“Pfft, as if… Not even worth asking. But that's not gonna stop us, is it?”
“Hehe, no it’s not” Zephyr giggled, and the two hid in a bush, ready to stalk the warrior patrol, set to leave as soon as the sun touched the top of the castle tower. Nothing out of the ordinary for the two, just another day of playing as close as possible to danger.
