Stories of the Stars - Satra V

She opened her eyes at least. She didn’t know how long it had been, all her senses had completely gone numb, yet she had been awake like that for quite a while before eventually falling asleep. She did wake up a few times only to find herself in that total darkness, and she thought it would be like that forever. She wished she would die, better than whatever that was, but thankfully this time she could actually see and feel something - sort of. Everything was blurry, and the colors were all over the place. It was all moving everywhere, and the noise in her ears was unbearable. The place where her body touched the bed - at least that’s what she assumed it was - felt all fuzzy, like ants were crawling all over her.

“You’re up!” She heard a voice, all distorted by the noise in her head, and a face popped over her face. She couldn’t distinguish much like that - the movement of her vision made her sick. She turned her back to the figure and vomited on the floor.

“Oh, my, that’s no good… Staying here will only make it worse for you… Your body isn’t accustomed to the radiation… We really need to get you out of here, that’s what I’ve been saying… But there is no available patrol… But fear not! We’ve sent a messenger to someone we know could take you back to where you came from. It’s just… They’re far away in Kludgetown right now… And that is so far away… But you know, you’ve been asleep for two months by now, they should be here any minute!”

Satra vomited again from the shock. “Two… months…?” She managed to mumble.

“Ah, yea… but look at the bright side, it’s a wonder you even made it out alive! How did you even end up in there? From your coat I can tell you’re a crystal pony… I’ve never seen a crystal pony before, doubt anybody in the camp has… What are you doing here? And… OH MY how rude of me! I haven’t even asked for your name! I am Autumn Spice, I am a kirin.”

“I’m Satra…” Satra managed to mumble. All that talking made her ears roar with noise, but she had to find out more about her situation. “Where… am I…?”

“You are in the Kirinaria Mercenary Camp, we are kirin and changelings here - you might remember the changelings that brought you in. Good thing they were there to pull you out of the radioactive swamp, nobody has better radiation resistance than them! If you would’ve encountered a kirin patrol… we might’ve not been able to save you. We’ve tried all sorts of medication on you, for a few days we were sure you were a goner. But thank heavens, you woke up! If we manage to get you out of the Everfree, and back north to the Crystal Empire, I’m sure you’ll be able to make a full recovery! Ah! would you look at that! I can hear something happening outside, they must have finally returned from Kludgetown!”
