Grifixverse Lore VII: The day the Sun started orbiting the Earth

One may look up through a telescope today and see… nothing but the stars, shining far away, untouchable… But it wasn’t always like that. In the past we used to inhabit a solar system just like yours, with planets, dwarf planets, satellites and many more, all circling around the Sun…

So long ago that was… So long that even I can barely remember those days.

Each primordial spirit was given domain over a celestial body orbiting this Sun. Their souls were linked to the core of their celestial body. Some created life to inhabit them, some left them empty and went to have their fun on Earth, our favorite. We had much fun on the early Earth. Discord surely made it easy to love his celestial body… They all loved to come along and play with the life that sprouted on here!

But so came the jealousy, and the fights over domains… They asked why did my sister and I not go to visit the others’ domains? Well of course, because none were as fun as the Earth. But they did not like that. Some dared to try and steal his domain, some tried to end him… And soon they were all fighting over each other’s domains. My sister and I did not intervene, it was all just so much fun! But it was a war of cosmic proportions, so the damage was just as bad.

Celestial bodies were sent plummeting into others, some collided and some were torn apart. Obliterated they were, and so were many of the spirits whose bodies were destroyed. Some were torn away from their orbit, sent into outer space, dragging their spirit deep into the void…

It was by no means a beautiful sight, but we rejoiced in the destruction. Out of the thousands of spirits, very few survived the destruction of their domain. And amongst all, Discord was fighting fiercely to protect his own.

It was then that one of the last of the remaining celestial bodies, Theia, died, and her body plummeted towards the Earth. The two crashed and burned and all life was wiped out for a very long time. It was then that all the remaining spirits felt something break inside of them: all links to their celestial bodies were broken. They no longer had domain over any.

That might have been the doing of Neant… but it’s not like we could ask her. All that me and Akasha could do was wait around for something new to happen… And we knew we were going to have to wait a very long time. All that remained now was silence and a desolated Solar System.

Millions of years later, the earth started to come back to life. Scarred, but not alone. Theia’s debris turned into the one and only other celestial body remaining in the Solar System, the Moon. And when there’s nothing else to spin around the sun, it is only a matter of perspective to decide who’s circling around who. It might have been the Earth circling around the Sun, but to all the life that came after it was the Sun circling around the Earth. And there were no other celestial bodies left to prove otherwise…

NOTE: Behold my totally logical explanation for an Earth-centric Solar System… I even asked my math teacher mom to calculate what the Sun’s orbit around the Earth would be if we reversed the coordinates of their irl orbit in order to imagine the Earth as the still one and the Sun as the moving one. Sure, physics dictate that the Earth is controlled by the Sun’s gravity but if you remove all that and imagine that only the viewer’s chosen perspective matters, then you can very well see the Sun orbiting the Earth! As long as you take out the rest of the Solar System. Cause that just complicates everything. Anyway, this is just a weird thought experiment for a fictional setting. I don’t even know if anybody will even understand what the hell I’m on. Basically it’s just a shift of perspective.
