“Hiiii Starlaa!” The pink spirit came jumping on the clouds, leaving sparkles and swirls of magic behind.

“Oh, hello sweetheart” the majestic spirit replied.

“Ahhh as I’ve been hanging around here for a while I’ve asked myself a few questions and I was wondering… how come the grifix can breed regardless of their gender, and other species can’t? I thought that only you may know the answer, in case there is an answer to be known…”

“Oh, well… there is an answer actually.”

“Really?? Can you please tell me??” The pink spirit was overflowing with excitement.

“Haha sure sweetheart, but know that I never told this story to anybody before.”

“Ooohhhhh yaaay!”

Starla smiled in response to her excitement, then her expression switched to a melancholic one, as she began telling the story.

“Back in the days that I was walking the Earth with my two friends, Dragonclaw and Luminary, I used to seek the true form of life. All around me there were animals, but it took me a while to realize that there was such a thing like gender. Neither me, Dragonclaw or Luminary had any gender, we just existed. Later on we would decide on one, but back in that time we had no such concept. After I realized what gender was, I started to see a special bond between the animals of opposite genders, and at first I thought it was beautiful and unique. But when I began to observe the intelligent species, I saw that that bond could also bring suffering. Why must one restrain from loving just because of such a not important thing? I saw ponies suffer because they couldn’t love the way their soul wanted to. I didn’t want to bring such suffering among the grifix. No matter how beautiful the bond between male and female is, love shouldn’t be restrained, should it?”

The pink spirit looked at her with tears in her eyes.

“In the stories *sob* you were really *sob* scaaaryy… *sob* But you are actually really sweeeet!!!” she said, ending up in tears. Starla first looked a little confused at her, then smiled and said:

“Haha, is that so?”
