Stories of the Stars: Silver Wing I
The young mare looked outside the window. It has been around a year since her grandmother, Silver Rose passed away, and a few weeks since her father unexpectedly fell ill. The healer, Spring Night couldn’t do much for him so he died soon after. Silver wasn’t too desperate after his death. He was getting pretty old. But still… She felt alone. After the incident six years ago things got pretty awkward between her and her warrior friends and then they stopped talking… Now it felt like she was all alone, and had nobody but her sphirix to talk to.
Outside it was raining and the darkness of the clouds made a slight reflection on the window, where she could see her face, the right side being covered in a huge scar.
Then she heard a knock in the door. She opened and saw the new captain of the warriors and Zephyr’s older brother, Melon.
‘Hello, how may I help you?’ she asked him with a smile that she always put up whenever she talked to someone.
‘Silver… This isn’t working!’ He lifted his eyes, with a desperate look on his face. ‘The camp is a total mess! They all nominated me to become the Captain but the truth is that nobody is truly suitable for this role! Things aren’t working at all… You have to help me, you’re the only one that has enough experience and authority to become the Captain!’
‘Sorry, I’m not playing warriors anymore. Don’t know what you’re thinking, but the camp is not a suitable place for a female…’ She replied, still with that false smile on her face.
‘Cut me that crap! You know very well that ain’t true! Sure, it has been an unfortunate incident but you have to get over it! You know that what I’m saying is true! You’re the only one suitable for this role! The whole Village will have to suffer if you don’t step up! Please!’
‘Sorry, but i can’t do that. I’ll help you with anything I can but that.’ She spoke, keeping the false smile on her face. She knew that her old self would be ashamed to see her now. But there was nothing she could do.
‘Tch…’ Melon looked at her disgusted. He turned around and left without a single word.
After she closed the door, she fell down in tears. She hated herself for all of it, but she just couldn’t get over what happened six years ago. The words her father told her… They still haunted her. She couldn’t forget those words. They killed everything she once was, everything that she was once proud of.
