Stories of the Stars: Wolfsbane I

0 Favorites ・ 0 Comments

Wolfsbane has travelled all around Equestria, seeing all sorts of creatures and stuff nobody in the Forest would believe. However she didn’t speak about it much. The life there was so peaceful, quiet and unspoiled. She didn’t want that to change. If anybody from the forest would leave that place for the sake of knowing the world, that would be fine, but she didn’t want that place to become like the outside. So she kept all the wonders to herself. The deer knew stuff about the outside, but they disliked it. As of the Grifix… they might actually like it and wish to discover more if they knew.

Surely she brought them a lot of cool stuff from outside, like clocks, books or exotic plants, but that was all they could know about the outside. She never told them stories about the civilization, even when asked. She would just tell them stories about remote villages, wildness and monsters.

But there was a greater secret that she kept, one that she would never speak of to anybody. There were grifix outside of the forest. The evidence was indisputable. And there might be even more than just one village. All over Equestria she found tracks of grifix fur and magic leaks. There seemed to be a traveling camp of grifix, or something like that. But the things found along those tracks pointed towards a rather hostile community, unlike the one in the forest. She found stuff that she could trade for pretty cool things, but she never did so. She hid them as well as possible in her carriage. She tried to approach those grifix, but it felt like there was a magic barrier that actually affected her. Probably the Grifix in the forest evolved to have magic that didn’t affect deer, while those outside didn’t. But all that was rather far from the forest, she didn’t think those grifix could get to the Village any time soon.

However, there was something else she found, and this was quite close to the Everfree Forest, in Ghastly Gorge. There, she found some other magic tracks, which she followed. And this time she actually saw it - a camp. But it looked in a terrible shape, and the creatures living inside were miserable. They looked similar to grifix, but not exactly like them. And the magic seemed off too. It looked chaotical. She decided not to approach them.

From then on, she kept thinking about whether she should tell the Queen or not. She was still not sure, so she kept it a secret. But if any of those grifix would present a threat to the Forest, she would definitely tell her as quickly as possible.
