Stories of the Stars: Hogweed I

0 Favorites ・ 0 Comments

Hogweed was born in a distinguished warrior family, which normally would have assured him a safe future. But unfortunately, the day of his birth was a bad omen day, and he was chased by misfortunes. They wouldn’t happen to him, but to everyone around him, especially his family. That’s why, from the day of his birth he was hated by those who brought him into this world.

He had an older brother, who was the pride of his family. His brother was a scout, but strong enough to become a warrior. He was still young and both him and his family were hoping that one day he would transfer to the actual warriors. But one day, when Hogweed was barely two years old, his brother died in an unfortunate accident, being struck by lightning on a mountain in one of the scouts expeditions. His body was brought back to the camp by the other scouts. His death couldn’t possibly be blamed on anyone, but in their grief his parents blamed it on Hogweed. They disowned him, wishing to never see him again.

Like other orphans, he was then sent to the healers’ side of the camp. The healers used to raise orphans, as they had more time on their hands than the warriors. Still, most of the orphans were never adopted by an actual family. Even so, the sky mentor at that time, Starweed, seemed to see something in him so she adopted him and kept him around all the time, teaching him everything she could. That’s why he was always one of the best healers of his age.

Unfortunately, she was already pretty old when she adopted him, so she died when he was a teenager, but he didn’t need another parent. “He is ready to soar to the stars” she said on her deathbed.
