Stories of the Stars: Hena I

“Ha! Yana! There’s a rabbit! Let’s follow it!” Hena suddenly shouted, as she quickly got up and started chasing a rabbit that just happened to be around. Yantarka quickly stood up and followed without saying a word, but looking clearly interested.

“We gotta - run faster - or we - won’t catch it -“ Hena said, out of breath as she ran through the bushes, followed by Yantarka who seemed to have no problem with the effort. Then the rabbit suddenly stopped. Hena tried stopping, surprised, but Yantarka didn’t notice in time and heavily bumped into her, the impact sending her flying over Hena. She then fell to the ground. It took her a few moments to clean her vision, as the impact made her see all black. 

“Ahh, it got away… “ sighed Hena, approaching Yantarka, who was flat on the ground. Yantarka got back on her legs and softly petted Hena on the head, trying to comfort her.

“It’s ok, we’ll find another one! Maybe we should ask Quick Mouse, he’s so fast, I bet he’s amazing at hunting!”

Yantarka heavily shook her head in response.

“No?… why not? What about Small Pebble?”

Yantarka shook her head even harder.

“You don’t wanna ask anybody?”

Yantarka nodded lightly.

“It’s no fun if it’s not only the two of us…” She said with a light voice.

“Oh? But I don’t know how to find another rabbit…” Said Hena.

“It’s ok. Let’s do something else. I don’t care what it is, as long as we’re together.”

Hena’s chest filled with warmth, hearing Yantarka’s words.

“Yana!” She suddenly said with a large smile on her face.

“Wh…what?”

“I love you!”

“I…love you too…”

Hena started running, giggling and smiling brightly. Yantarka followed her, with a quiet smile. The two fillies ran through the forest, no worries shadowing their minds. Those moments felt like a lifetime to them, and so they lived a lifetime of happiness in a moment. But little did they know, there was a lifetime of sadness to follow.
