DIV-510: Sunbite

Sunbite is the child of Beira's cousin. He was born with deformed wings that didn't allow him to fly, but that never bothered him - it did, however, bother his mother and his family a lot. They hated him for being imperfect, and later they started to say that he was actually "one of them", the divided grifix, since they were wingless. 

When he was a teenager, Bear started to linger around in the Everfree Village, being alone in the Divided Grifix Camp, with a father that was lost inside his mind. Sunbite met him a few times while Bear was creeping through the bushes, and he felt like he related to him for being wingless. For a while he even thought he actually was a divided grifix - after all, at that time, they didn't really know where they came from - maybe more of them could be born in the Village...? And maybe he was one of them. 

Sunbite became Bear's first ever friend, but soon enough Bear started to come inside the Village, and met Sunbite's friends: Spruce, Spice, Honeybee, Sandy and Nile. For a while, Bear would often sleep in Sunbite's hut, but Sunbite had to be careful to not be discovered by his family.

When they grew older, the lot of them started to hang out in the Divided Grifix Camp - as long as Wolf didn't wake up from his sadness and decided to kick them out - after all he didn't want his bloodline to continue, so he thought Bear shouldn't hang out with any grifix.

A few years later, Spruce and Sandy had a cub, and they were happier than ever - but the Village started gossiping, they were saying that their egg will for sure be divided, that the "evil" will continue to spread if they don't act up, that they should kill the egg.

One night, Sandy woke up to a strange scent in the air, the scent of fire - the room in which they were keeping the egg was on fire. She jumped into fire and dragged the egg out, waking up Spruce to escape. They made it out, but she was severely burnt. 

The village soon woke up because of the fire, and they put it out. Accusations were made - it became clear that someone had put fire in that room in order to try and kill the egg. Some even said that Sandy's burns weren't actually burns, but it was her divided corruption coming out, that they should be exiled and not allowed in the Village.

Some grifix were more reasonable, so no such decision was made, but to their group it became clear that they had lost all support from the Village and their families. 

Sunbite was angered. He could not believe the Village he grew in was the same who would do such a thing. He decided to cut all ties to them. He took a knife, and in front of the entire Village he cut off his wings - and declared that from then on he was no child of the Village. None of them were.

They all left. They would often be back, but it wasn't the same. Now they were residents of the Divided Grifix Camp, that would be their new home.

The next day the healer from the Village payed them a visit. She was worried for Sandy, Sunbite and the Egg. She treated Sandy for burns and tended to Sunbite's wounds. She inspected the egg to make sure it was still alive. Then she left them a good supply of medical herbs and told them how to find more, and what to look for - if she wouldn't be around, they had to know how to take care of themselves. Honeybee, worried for her sister, payed a lot of attention and became the healer of the group.

Sunbite became the leader of the group - he was always one to speak out for them when they were mistreated after all. 

Stuff:

Sunbite is aroace. He is also genderfluid - but spends most time identifying as male. However, his feelings towards his gender are very vague, and not very strong, so his body is mostly androgynous, and doesn't change much when his gender changes.

He always hated Beira for the kind of queen she was, and for allowing the Villagers to absolutely lose all reason under her reign. He blames her for what happened with him and his friends. He would often go back to try to convince her to take her queen duties seriously, as he was part of her family. He had no success.
