EMP-358: Viper Grasslands

Viper Grasslands is Fallen Grasslands' twin sister. The two of them were born from the same egg, however, Viper died soon after.

Due to their egg being a twin egg, it needed more magic to grow, and developed some issues when the embrios were mostly formed. The egg's parents, Hawkflight and Sweet Ivy took it to the medics guild, where they concluded that the only way for the egg to get enough magic was to apply a potion that allowed it to absorb any magic from the air, not just the parents'. Because the babies were almost ready to hatch, it wasn't going to affect their appearance much. However, in such cases, it is important that the egg is only exposed to grifix magic, as it will absorb any magic it comes in contact with.

The doctor that was in charge of taking care of the egg was a renowed scholar who used to study egg formation for grifix. He was known to be trustworthy, but when the babies hatched something wasn't right... One of the twins was severily ill, and dark markings were covering her limbs - she looked as if she was going to wither away. Sweet Ivy was angry and blamed the doctor, but he washed it off, saying it couldn't have been helped, that it was caused by the complications the egg went through, and that such things can happen. It took a lot for Ivy to calm down, but eventually she went home with the babies. However, she was convinced that the doctor did something - she just had no proof. 

A few nights later, someone knocked at their door, and when Ivy opened she found one of the nurses that took care of the egg. The nurse said that she had to tell her something: it was pressing on her conscience and she hadn't slept ever since the two had hatched.

She told Ivy that in one night, the doctor had brough in the room with the egg some ancient artifact - proably something from the scholars guild, she didn't know what it was, but it had this eerie feeling surrounding it and she was instantly scared by it. She just happened to be awake then, the other nurses didn't know, and the doctor made her swear that she'll never tell anyone. The nurse was sure that the baby's condition was caused by that strange object's magic which got absorbed by the egg.

The parrents reported the doctor and he got locked up, but Viper's life was becoming more and more frail. Two weeks since birth she passed away.

Despite her sister's passing, Fallen Grasslands always acted like Viper was right next to her as she grew up. She always talked to her and told others about what Viper was doing when they asked - it was as if she could see something they couldn't. At the begining they thought it was like an immaginary friends kind of thing, but it was weird because Fallen was too young when Viper passed to remember her, so why did she know about Viper? When asked, she could clearly describe Viper's appearance, except it was never a newborn baby like when she passed away - it was a filly the same age as Fallen.

They thought Fallen would eventually get bored of this and stop, but she never did, so eventually the parents asked her to keep it to herself after gently explaining what happened to viper. Fallen was angry. She could really see her sister, the two of them had always been together, never apart. So why could nobody else see that?

Viper told her that it was ok if nobody else would aknowledge her. She would never leave, so Fallen should do as they asked, and only talk to her when they were alone.

Viper would sometimes leave then come back. Since nobody could see her, she would sometimes go spy on grifix then tell Fallen what she saw.
