EMP-542: Crane Shimmer

Crane Shimmer was a grifix born in the Entertainment District, in the Moonshadow Crane House. Her mother tried to hide the egg, worried that it might be taken away or killed, but in the day it was supposed to hatch, a maid found it and brought it to the house mother. The egg's mother didn't say anything, for she could be kicked out for trying to hide her egg. While the House members debated what to do with it, the egg hatched. The maid who found it begged the house mother to spare the cub, promising to take care of it. The house mother took pity and let her keep the cub, whom she named Crane Shimmer, after the House it was born in.

Crane's mother tried to avoid the cub once she grew up, not knowing what to do. Torn between wanting to care for it and the fear of what might happen if it was found out that it was her kid, she left the House.

Crane Shimmer grew up to be a beautiful mare, and a beloved entertainer. It wasn't long before she became the Lady of the Moonshadow Crane Entertainment House. But one year, she met a grifix whom she fell in love with, and conceived an egg.

As the Lady of the House, she was the most adored and requested entertainer, therefore the Mother of the House could not afford letting her to raise a baby - such a thing would completely tarnish her reputation, customers would no longer be interested in her... Plus retiring for a few years to raise the baby would've been a waste of the best years of her life - when she would be back she would be seen as too old. No, such thing clearly couldn't be allowed of the most beautiful Lady of the House.

Crane Shimmer somehow hid the fact that she had an egg until the moment it hatched, at which point she asked for help from one of her closest friends - Nightwater Bay, a fellow Entertainer in the Moonshadow Crane house. Together, the snuck out and ran to a close by Guild, the Tailors Guild, where they luckily met a mare that took pity on them and took the baby - despite the shame that would come on her if she were ever to be found to had raised the baby of an entertainer.

Next year, Crane Shimmer had another baby - which unfortunately she couldn't hide in time, and the House Mother discovered it. While she begged the House Mother to keep it, and managed to raise it for the first 3 years of the baby's life, the baby was given to a different house and Crane Shimmer's time as the House Lady was over. She was now just a second rate entertainer, nothing more...

Her children grew up to be Moon Zenith and Dakki Yoko.
