She loves books and has a big passion for deciphering old grifix writings. She dedicated her life to deciphering all the Grifix writings and translating them into a single alphabet and language. She’s the one who found the first known records about The Forgotten Queen, confirming her existence, which was till not long ago just a myth.

She’s pretty sweet and loves books, but she’s not as obsessed as Twilight. Her personality is much calmer than Twilight’s. She’s pretty cheerful and gets along well with other grifix. Has a pretty mature personality and she’s really trustworthy.

From the beginning of times, the grifix have been a species that has been mostly focused on surviving, not being very intellectual. They’re still a pretty primitive society and don’t care much about science. It’s just not in their nature to care about that.

Still, they do have basic knowledge of the world they live in. By example, they do see the earth as a giant ball that spins around the sun, and also know that some parts of the sky are partially controlled by The Two Pony Sisters, and later by Twilight Sparkle (I’ll just suppose that Equestria somehow works with both). About other parts of science, they don’t know much but during their history some grifix did have ideas about studying nature and such. They aren’t like inquisitors that wouldn’t allow people to research the world. So some grifix made studies about stuff. The Castle even has a library where are kept all sorts of stuff like that, including scientific, historical and magical studies. Still, their knowledge doesn’t go farther than what humanity knew in the Middle Ages. They never got a clear type of writing so all those studies are mixed up in all sorts of writings and hard to read, some even impossible. The reason for that is that the Grifix never had a school or a way to educate the children about writing and such. Whenever a grifix interested in science would pop up, they would usually create their own writing system, being unable to understand the already existing ones. Some grifix that were interested in science may have taken disciples that used the same writing, but there were gaps where there were no such grifix, and the previous writing system was lost, so the new scientist created their own writing system. So that’s why everything it’s a crazy mixed up chaos in that library and the grifix scientific knowledge doesn’t get any better.

Dusk grew up in the castle and often went to the library with Frozen Mountain to help him clean up the books. Just because no one could read them, it didn’t mean the writings should get lost. Ever since that time she was fascinated about those mysterious writings that nobody could read. The curiosity was burning her from the inside. Soon enough she started deciphering some simple writings, and over the time she got to more complex ones. At some point she decided to retire from the maid status she had and become the first librarian in a long time. Now she spends most of her time in the library, deciphering old writings. She hopes that one day there won’t be any more mysteries in the library (though she also wishes they will never end since she loves what she’s doing) and she tries to make a dictionary where to explain every writing system the grifix ever used so that future generations could understand what writes in those books.

During her researches she found a lot of important stuff and things that completely changed the perception the Grifix had on their history. And example is the existence of the Forgotten Queen, who was just a myth till recently and no Grifix knew anything about her aside the fact that perhaps there was another Queen at some point, though not many believed it. The writing strangely didn’t contain her name, but it did contain very detailed information on her looks, personality, the way she reigned and for how long. That was probably the most important discovery in her life.

Despite spending most of her time in the library, she does get out pretty often and takes part of the grifix daily life, going to the fire at dusk and socializing a lot.
