Name: Rutilans gastropoda (Glow Slug)

Appearance: 

Diet: Moss, Algae, Dead skin cells

Mating behaviour: Glowing different shades of blues and greens, the brightest will usually attract a mate. The species are hermaphrodites. Egg clusters will also glow.

Glow slugs are strange creatures that live deep in cave systems near a water source, often in large colonies. They were discovered and first used as a light source by Divided grifix, until one exploring these caves to gather more dropped their torch and burned themselves. The slugs covered the wound and the grifix found out that the slime they produce when eating the burnt skin cells had minor healing properties. 

They are now used to treat burn wounds, but are still used as a light source from time to time. 

Due to them living deep inside caves, they can be found anywhere and have survived until the great cataclysm, but have largely been forgotten about by the Frozen Empire.
