[Lo-W6] Desert & Polar Worms
(Little Slug thing in the top left corner is not related)
Name: Desert Worm
Appearance: Found in grey/red/yellow and ivory colour schemes. Male spines on the head are long, while females have shorter spines. Skin is a leathery texture. Serated teeth lining the mouth. (The noise they make sound like the worm noise in Lethal Company)
Diet: Meat
Mating behaviour: Males will coil around females and wait for them to submit (like snakes)
Desert worms can be found in the deserts around Klugetown, making it very dangerous to cross the vast stretches of desert sands. They are massive creatures, the largest recorded to be about the size of a mountain. They live underneath the hot sand and only come up to hunt prey. They are blind so they use the spines on their head to sense vibrations of anything moving on top of the sand. They will quickly rise to the surface and sail to where they feel the vibrations, the only thing tipping you off that you are being hunted being the sails on their back poking out of the sand and the rumbling of the earth, once they get to their prey they will launch themselves out of the sand, their mouths wide open and eat anything that didn't manage to get away in time...they are formidable predators and become harder to kill the larger they grow. So be very careful walking across the desert..as once you feel the rumbling, you better run like hell.
Younglings are often eaten by Klugetown residents, and sometimes they use them as mounts, though they aren't very good mounts unless you can keep them from diving into the sand. It is believed these worms never stop growing. It is a sport to try ans ride the bigger worms.
Name: Polar Worm
Appearance: More fuzzy, males have a 'lion-like' mane, this variant has no sail on their backs. Found in White/light blue/grey/and cyan colours. This varient has a harder shell than their desert counterpart, making them even more difficult to kill.
Diet: Same as desert worms
Mating behaviour: The male that often has the biggest mane will attract the female
They hunt/behave the same as Desert Worms except they can be found in the Frozen North. Grifix do not keep smaller ones as mounts but will hunt them for food, they make a nice stew. Grifix are advised to keep away from big open fields of snow.
