-A scholar became obsessed with creating artificial beings (robots), they wanted to perfect them. One day they got the idea to try making an artificial grifix, why? Just to see if it would be possible, they disguised the reason as it would be usefull to travel in spaces normal grifix cannot go.
-It took years until they managed to make a working prototype...but it had a large issue, the artificial grifix couldn't stay powered for more than 10 minutes at a time, and it would take too long to charge and use too much power. The Scholar needed to find a way to get it running for longer...
They tried crafting the artificial gems on its chest to absorb magic from its surroundings as its power source, like how other robots are running. However when they activated the Artificial Grifix it nearly killed them and their team as it absorbed too much magic. The Scholar had to abandon that idea pretty quickly.
-Then they got an idea, Cataclysm's breath, a disease caused by radiation from the Cataclysm. It had to come from somewhere, and it could be a source of infinite energy. The Scholar requested a team of greenseekers to bring back crystals caused by the cataclysm, and they did, however carrying them for so long caused the team of greenseekes to contract Cataclysm's Breath...which then caused a mini outbreak. The Scholar did not care, they had their source of infinite energy....
-They got back to working on their Artificial Grifix, crafting the cataclysm crystals into a core and then inserting it into the chest of the Artificial grifix and powering it on...it worked! The Artificial grifix ran for longer than 10 minutes.
-However the more tests the team ran..they began to get sick, the Artificial Grifix was emmitting a constant stream of dangerous radiation. The Scholar's team left to get treated for it, before they contracted Cataclysm's breath..but the Scholar didn't want to give up on their project, they wanted it to be perfect, they wanted it to work.
-Alas, their hubris caught up to them. The Scholar got too sick to keep working on their project and died. The place was sactioned off as it was saturated with radiation and no one could go in to clean it.
- the scholars sealed the robot in Amber because that would stop it from harming others and would also keep the technology intact for the future, when they might be able to fix it. I feel like they would do it, they would totally try to preserve the technology and use it sometime in the future
- That could work, would likely have caused a few deaths to go seal it I think
- Was thinking maybe it could develop an intelligence while trapped in the amber...but don't think it would have been built like that - I don't mind that, it's ran on grifix magic which is known to develop "intelligence" (think yokai for example)
- In my head the design is more steampunk-like but similar to my Cyborg grifix
- Maybe the whole area of the scholar's place was sealed in amber, Would make a cool looking location
- worth noting that the amber being used like that is something secret and most scholars don't know it's possible, they would have no idea it happened, it's something only the top ranking officials of the Empire are aware
- Then the robot is likely kept secret as well - definitely
