EMP-457: Hachi

Hachi is the twin brother of Takumi. Hachi’s name refers to the number eight in Japanese, since his family is connected to the Kraken’s Lure Entertainment house in a mysterious way.

Hachi and Takumi’s father was actually the son of Madame Thalassa. Thalassa was good friends with Dust Blizzard’s grandfather and Thalassa had ended up falling in love and having an egg with her ex mate, her ex mate not having a good status in the Empire. She wanted no part of this grifix being in her life or in her house due to her relationship, so she gave the egg to Dust’s grandfather and told him to raise it as his own. She also knew if anyone found out about the egg she had with her first mate the egg would have been killed.

Hachi’s father never knew about his real mother until Dust’s grandfather passed, needing to tell him the truth which made their father a bit angry but also understanding about the situation the twins’s grandmother went through. Their father decided to name his children after things related to their grandmother’s house as respect towards her.

Hachi is more caring, understanding, and protective than his twin brother. He’s also more passionate about his work than his brother, his brother usually going and slacking off or playing pranks on Dust Blizzard. The two brothers grew up with Dust so they have known her since they were cubs, playing together and hanging out around the Hunter’s Guild. Hachi was close to Dust’s father more than his twin was. Hachi admired and looked up to the past headmaster before his death, Hachi being devastated when he passed. Hachi’s father was super close to Dust’s father so he was heartbroken as well.

Hachi hunts mainly with only a certain group of hunters because he gets the job done faster, plus he doesn’t have to deal with his brother’s shenanigans while on duty. When off duty and all the hunters are drinking and having a good time, Hachi is usually sitting in the corner with his own mug and watching everything go down, mainly keeping an eye out for intruders of the guild, and sometimes.. watching Dust Blizzard.

The male knows Dust’s disability, and he hates when the guild takes advantage of it, especially his brother Takumi who actually started the whole fiasco. He knows she thinks of all of them as family and it’s all fun and games at times, but sometimes he actually will stand up and say that that is enough for the evening. He also sometimes checks the drinks and food to make sure they aren’t things she’s allergic to or if it’s poisoned, and if it was a food to try and kill her he will not hesitate to fight the grifix who would’ve tried to do so. Who knows when a hunter could go rogue or get pissed off at the headmaster and want her dead.

There is nights where he sends everyone back to their rooms in the guild and sees a drunk Dusk on the table asleep. When Prey isn’t available to take care of Dust Blizzard after a long night of drinking, Hachi will sometimes manage to wake her up and get her to walk back to her room, but other times he is nice and carries her to her room and will watch over her at night to make sure she’s okay. He’s just a kind soul, but just extremely protective of grifix he cares about.
