Lutes

Lutes have a biological ability to bring healing and comfort to those in pain, and during Rosa's reign era a grifix discovered this. The young grifix tamed a Lute and brought it to the village, keeping it around. The village at that point had been going through a common flu, and the grifix soon contacted the flu. They were in pain and couldn't call for help, but the bird sat on their chest and started purring. The vibration helped the grifix relax and ease the pain until help came. Ever since then, grifix have done their best to tame and breed Lutes to be more subservient to the Grifix. In return, these birds were rewarded with safety and food.

During Eclipsa's reign, they have been cast off from the Village and grifix eventually forgot about them, and they became like any usual prey in the forest.

After the Cataclysm, the few survivors of the species gathered in the Everfree Village, perhaps due to some old reawakened instincts. Grifix, in order to honor the knowledge treaty, decided to bring them along in the great migration as a way of saving the species and to research them.

Nowdays, they are used for their pain calming abilities in the Medics Guild.

They are often prescribed as companions to disabled grifix, especially those with chronic pain, and their food is provided by the Medics Guild together with whatever medicine the grifix needs.

 

Lutes are omnivores, so they arent very picky, but their favorite foods are fish and berries. Unforunately for them, they never get such foods in the Frozen Empire as they are completely unavailable.

 

 

Breeding:

The Lutes are monogamus. The males use their long and sharp feathers to dance and flutter beautifully while also producing a softer chirping sound to attract females.

 

 

The babies after hatching out of their eggs are small and fluffy, and the mother must protect them and make sure they are warm. The babies are very sensitive to the cold, which makes it quite hard for them to reproduce in the Frozen Empire. If a grifix is to spot a Lute nest somewhere in the Empire, they must immediately annouce the Medics Guild in order for the eggs to be brought in a warm place where they can safely hatch, even if that means the parents mught abandon them. otherwise they would have no chance of survival.

 

Surprisingly, Lutes do not like the heat, they favor cooler climates more. They have adapted to the cooler habitat in the Empire and their feathers are kind of like penguin feathers. They can handle cold really well, all but the babies who are very ssensitive to it.

 

 

One of the most distinctive traits of the Lutes is the head crest, which is sharper in the front for males andd has a resting shape for females. Besides that, a clear diference between males and females is the shape of the long feathers in their wings and tail: female feathers have a rounded shape while male feathers have pointy ends.

Lutes also have two pairs of eyes. It is speculated that the second pair plays a big role in their ability to sense pain and discomfort in other beings.
