Magana Bird

Miscellaneous
Magana are arctic birds that live in the Frozen North and are known to produce natural light beans similarily to grifix.
Grifix light beans have a variety of uses such as night lighting and embellishments, but unfortunately they are limited and sometimes they are needed for health emergencies, as they also have medicinal uses. Magana light beans can't act as medicine as they are very different from grifix light beans, but they do contain magic and can be used as lights so they are a great alternative to grifix light beans.
They can also be consumed by cataclysm's breath victims instead of grifix light beans, as they contain enough magic for that.

Magana light beans regrow much faster than grifix light beans (5 to 10 days), and their carnivorous diet makes them easy to maintain in captivity in the Frozen Empire, as food is easy to obtain. They are kept around as a light source similarily to sunset birds, but unlike those, these aren't a symbol of wealth because their food is cheap. Tame Magana have developed darker coloring over time as a result of selective breeding.

Their mating ritual consists in the female laying their tail featherson their back as the male hops around the female and sing as their feathers glow brightly, in the end, the two rub their heads together as a sign of the ritual being complete.

Chicks are born from glowing flower-patterned eggs, the eggs losing their glow after the chicks hatch out of them. The chicks will stay in the nest for 3-4 months, getting food from the parents. The babies will grow and molt their dimly lit glowing feathers to get their bright glowing feathers and the light beans will begin to grow at the ends of the chick's tail feathers.

Magana eat small mammals such as mice, small fish or worms, but their favorite food are arctic bats that feed on glowing berries and pinecones. Their light beans act as bait for the bats, which the birds grab as they approach. If the bat manages to get away with a light bean and eats it, it will quickly kill the bat as it is posisonous to them, and the bird will eat the bat.
