The plant's whereabouts prior to the Frozen Empire are unknown. The plant grows in the herbalists greenhouses as it has been recently brought by the greenseekers from the south of Equestria.

Herbalists fed some of it to animals and noticed deadly after effects so they forbade any studies regarding its consumption, as it was deemed too dangerous.

Despite that, a certain herbalist decided to secretly study it, and experiment with it's effects on grifix. He created a drug made from the plant's roots and gave it to grifix in secret, but it turned out to be extremely addictive and had dangerous effects on the grifix's mind, which led to the herbalist getting killed. The records of his studies were later found by the herbalist guild, so it's effects are currently well known, but the price was great for this.

Consumption effects:

Chewing the root causes the grifix to have a dangerous spike in blood pressure. Giving a “high” to the grifix. Chewing the root increases the blood flow, and as the blood rushes to the brain it gives the “high”. It is highly addictive, the withdrawal effects being loosing of one's self and aggressivity.

The flower is beautiful and enticing but is extremely poisonous. A whiff of the flower's scent can cause a headache, and more time spent smelling it causes arrhythmias in the heart. The flower smells sweet and intoxicating.

Tea from the flower and leaves will produce an aroma that is sweet and intoxicating. The taste is sweet and delicious. However, this tea is like poison and will burn through the intestines, causing internal bleeding and most severely death. Before it kills the user, it produces hallucinations, and strong ones at that.

Solaris can be smashed into a paste that when applied over the gems causes a tingling electric sensation and boosts magic abilities. It also causes a very pleasant sensation as it enters the magic veins, which can be addictive. Using it regularly will lead to the magic system being much weaker without, which causes addiction. Extensive usage of it in this way will cause Freckle Organ Failure (in the case of being used for years, similar to how smoking cigarettes can cause lung issues). Amongst the withdrawal symptoms for this kind of consumption are: low magic flow, lack of sparkles in the mane, fading sphirix that can even go fully invisible (can cause severe panic attacks), feeling very weak.
