Sunny
Ever since Selenara hatched, no cloud could be seen in the day sky, and rain would only fall in the night. That came after months of cloudy skies, where not a raindrop would fall, nor a ray of sun or moon would get through. Eclipsa tried to open her mind to the new concept of having to give up the throne, but it was as if the stars were just rubbing it all in her face. She agreed to give up the throne, for the better of the village, but that didn't mean she was a different person now. Still her old self, and she couldn't stand the bright rays of the sun, always shining through the stained glass windows of the throne room, blinding her when they got into her eyes. Plus everyone seemed so happy to see the sun, she just couldn't stand it.
But she vowed to be better... So she did the only thing she could do, and ordered that all the windows be covered by dark curtains. Let them be happy if they loved the sun so much, but at least not rub it in her face. But if any servant were to leave a curtain open... they would still have to face her wrath.
Still her old self.
Despite how much she hated the new atmosphere that Selenara's arrival brought... She loved the little grifix. She was, what they would call, a sunshine child, no matter how much she hated that expression. Whenever she was angered by her subjects, she would go watch the little grifix play, and feel a sense of accomplishment, as if she were the one to bring her into the world, as if they had her to thank for this new queen. Nara was so unbothered by everything, so innocent... as if no darkness or light could reach her, she had her own brightness, brighter than the stars, moon or even the sun. And she was the only one who seemed happy at the sight of Eclipsa...
One day, Eclipsa went to check on Selenara, only to find the curtains pulled and the sun shining on the little cub. On the sight of it, her anger grew and overflowed her mind. How dare they let the sun reach her? How dare the sun try to touch her? How dare it try to outshine this child?
She quickly turned to the servant who was watching over Nara, grabbing a vase with her magic, ready to smack the servant with it, shouting "You incompetent...!" but she was interrupted by a giggle from behind. Eclipsa looked behind her only to see Nara playing with a light reflected by a crystal placed in the window. Just as innocent as before. Just as bright as before. Brighter than the sun. It couldn't outshine her.
Eclipsa put the vase back and returned to walk out of the room.
"Be careful. The color in the carpet will come off if you leave it too long in the sun."
She spoke before leaving the room.
