Species
Klugetown Folk

Klugetown Folk is the species that built Klugetown and to this day they are the most numerous species in Klugetown. The species is composed of two subspecies: ocean folk and desert folk.
Ocean folk are creatures that emerged from the ocean, and the desert folk are creatures that emerged from the desert. They evolved from animals under the influence of a magical artifact, which infused them with magic and caused them to evolve into their more humanoid shapes. While they are infused with small amounts of magic, that is nothing they can make use of. The magic took ages to make them evolve.
The artifact that caused this is buried deep underground and the two species are subconsciously attracted to it. That's why they all left their habitats and built Klugetown, over the place the artifact is buried.
The desert and ocean folk are not aware of the artifact’s existence, nor do they try to find it, but somebody else was: The Storm King. That is the reason why he colonized Klugetown. It is unknown whether he ever found the artifact or if it still lies under the city.
The artifact had no effect on abyssinians or orinthians, those are just neighboring kingdoms to Klugetown.
A lot of Klugetownians are hybrids of various animals, not all of them though. Most are hybrids of different animals of the same folk, but rarely there are also hybrids of desert folk with ocean folk. The magic induced in them made them compatible, but they can't breed with other species.
Character Reference info
If you want to make a Klugetown Folk character, ask MysteriousShine for a sketch to follow for the reference, because they have too variable body types to make bases for them.
Sheep
Details
They are intelingent creatures. They are similar to cows, being quite instinct driven. They are herd animals, and need each other's company, that being why they live together in large numbers. They depend on ponies for a lot of things, and therefore they usually live in the proximity of pony settlements. There are, however, groups of sheep that will roam freely in the mountains and only come to pony settlements in the winter to sell their products while the mountain tops are too cold to live in. They possess no magic and live mostly by the laws of nature and instinct. This, however, does not reduce their mental capabilities.
Buffalo
Details
Big, strong creatures that take great pride in their culture and traditions. They follow the same migration route for thousands of years, traveling through Equestria.
They have a treaty with Applelosa that allows them to pass through the apple orchird in exchange for apple pies. After the Great Cataclysm, they started to provide the village with fertile soil and clean seeds in exchange for canned food that allows them to continue their migration through deserted areas of Equestria, without starving.
Cow
Details
They are intelingent creatures. While cows are very much instinct driven, they are not stupid and probably as intelligent as ponies. They often work for ponies by producing milk in exchange for protection and shelter. They possess no magic and live mostly by the laws of nature and instinct. This, however, does not reduce their mental capabilities.

Abada
Details
Appearance
They are hooved mammals with a body built closer to deer than ponies.
They can use magic, each of them having a vertain magical talent, similar to super powers. They don't seem to be capable of freely using magic like ponies, not being able to levitate things. Their magic only gives them special abilities and nothing else. The abilities vary for each individual, and are related to nature.
They have two curved horns (one in front that's shorter than the other), but they don't seem to be related to the use of magic.
They have thin and slightly angular bodies, backswept ears, and thin tails with hair at the end. Their muzzle and legs and horns are usually a different color then their body. The area where their leg color changes has a stripe of another color they also have some markings on their chest, usually elongated like some sort of stripes.
Their tail is griffon like, with hair at the end. Their hair texture seems to vary, there being an abada with frill like hair.
They have cutie marks which represent their magical talent (EX: an abada that run very fast and create dust devils, has a dusty tornado cutie mark; an abada that can talk to plants has a cactus).
They don’t have visible hooves.

Kelpie
Details
Appearance
They are hooved mammals that look similar to ponies, having the same body build.
They are creatures made of water. They can be formed of liquid water, ice or steam, and can change the state they are made of, but usually stick to one all the time. Their bodies reflect what they are made of.
Their eyes have a distinct coloring: black sclera, colored iris and white pupils. They have visible colored dots on their sclera, usually in similar color to their iris.
They do not have wings or horns.
Their muzzle is colored in a different color than their body. They have markings on their body that look like water/ice/steam patterns. They also have gradients on their bodies.
They have cutie marks which seem to reflect their preferred state (ex: a wave for a liquid kelpie and snowflake for a frozen kelpie).
Kelpies explode when they are electrocuted, but they can be put back together, so they don’t die.
They can control the water from their bodies, and can assimilate water, meaning they can control water that is outside of their bodies as well by absorbing it.
If they overuse their water they can dry out. Ice kelpies can melt if their water is overused.
